Kielder Marathon Video

This is the final one of the 12 marathons Jamie and I (the marathon men!) have participated in this year. This is the video from the Kielder Marathon which was held on 7th October 2012. We were looking forward to this one as it represents where it all started a year ago.  Located in the heart of Northumberland this marathon has the tag line ‘Britain’s Most Beautiful Marathon’ and it certainly didn’t disappoint.  The weather was absolutely stunning and despite the time of year it was a warm one!   Although you run around the lake this is a really hilly one so we knew we’d been in a race by the end!! :o)  Thanks to everyone who aided us this year and for all the kind donations to Tiny Lives.  For those still wishing to sponsor us you can do so here … www.justgiving.com/marathonmen2012

A quick note on this video, unfortunately our normal camera was out of action due to some charging issues!! … I’ll hold my hands up to that one, so we had to use Judy’s instant camera, unfortunately it shows! … apologies for the jerky nature of some of the footage.  As for my acting career at the very end, well let’s just say I don’t expect any phone calls from producers looking to sign me up!!

Thanks for watching!

Loch Ness Marathon Video

Hi all,

This is the eleventh of the 12 marathons Jamie and I (the marathon men!) will be running this year. This is the video from the Loch Ness Marathon which was held on 30th September 2012.  We were looking forward to this one, located in the beautiful highlands this marathon promised to be a stunner.  From the published course profile it also looked like much of it would be downhill!!   So I in particular was looking forward to this one!! :o)

Next stop the Kielder Marathon next weekend for the last of our twelve marathons!!  Doesn’t time fly!

Cheddar Gorge Marathon Video

Hi All,

This is the tenth of the 12 marathons Jamie and I (the marathon men!) will be running this year. This is the video from the Cheddar Gorge Marathon which was held on 9th September 2012. We’d both been worried about this one as we have all heard of Cheddar Gorge, and it can mean only one thing … hills. As it turned out hills were an understatement, with massive climbs, difficult terrain and unseasonably high temperatures, it has to be one of the most challenging runs we’ve done all year. As you’ll see in the video some of us only just made it over the finishing line!!!

Next stop the Loch Ness Marathon  …. hoping to spot nessy!!

Guernsey Marathon Video

Hi All,

This is the ninth of the 12 marathons Jamie and I (the marathon men!) will be running this year. This is the video from the Guernsey Marathon which was held on 26th August 2012. We’d both been looking forward to this one as the Guernsey offers some brilliant views. My only reservation was the heat, I don’t do running in the heat to well!! It turned out to be a fantastic day, despite the high temperatures, and as you’ll see from the video I had a bit of fun on the way round the course.

Next stop the Cheddar Gorge on 9th September, which promises to be a brutal marathon. …. lets wait and see!

Isle of Man Marathon Video

This is the eight of the 12 marathons Jamie and I (the marathon men!) will be running this year. This is the Isle of Man Marathon which was held on 22nd July 2012. This is a run that we were looking forward to as neither of us had visited the Isle of Man previously. I’m glad to report that it didn’t disappoint with great views and a lovely atmosphere. A massive thanks to all who organised the event, the marshals were brilliant and it was a real treat to receive free sandwiches and warm showers at the end of the race. It made the long journey north that bit more enjoyable. All that is apart from the rather rough crossing home, evidence of which you can see late in the video!!

Next stop the Guernsey Marathon on 26th August , which will now be our second trip overseas 😮

South Downs Marathon Video

Hi All,

This is the seventh of the 12 marathons Jamie and I (the marathon men!) will be running this year. This is the South Downs Marathon which was held on 9th June 2012. This is a run that Jamie and I had been looking forward to for some time as it’s received stellar reviews in runners world. The scenery is fantastic as you climb your way over the downs!! Some of the hills were particularly punishing and I may have been a little tired towards the end!! Watch out for the sprint finish at the end it’s not to be missed, and for those who like surprises, don’t be too quick to click stop at the end of the video!!.

Next stop the Isle of Mann Marathon on 22nd July , which is our first trip overseas 😮

Brathay Windermere Marathon Video

Hi All,

This is the sixth of the 12 marathons Jamie and I (the marathon men!) will be running this year. This is the Brathay Windermere Marathon which was held on 20th May 2012. It is a run that I’ve done several times now and is just brilliant. The scenery is fantastic as you meander your way around lake Windermere taking in many of the small villages along the way!! Towards the end the route does get a lot busier with traffic, however by then it’s head down and push on to the finish.

Next stop the South Downs Marathon on 9th June which promises to be a really hilly one!

Marathon of the North Video

Hi All,

This is the fifth of the 12 marathons Jamie and I (the marathon men!) will be running this year. This is the Marathon of the North which was held on 6th May 2012. It was an similar run to Blackpool, as the route looped around Sunderland, often taking you back down streets you’d previously seen. To be honest this wasn’t a run for the running purist, the views were mixed, although the later stages along the coast and through the parks were a little prettier!!  However both Jamie and I were in no mood by then to take the views in.

Next stop the Brathay Windermere Marathon on 20th May!

Brighton Marathon Video

Hi All,

This is the fourth of the 12 marathons Jamie and I (the marathon men!) will be running this year. This is the Brighton Marathon which was held on 15th April 2012. It was an similar run to Blackpool, however the views, route and support was far superior. Multiple trips up and down the promenade made for easy running, we even passed the Grand Hotel but there wasn’t time for tea!!

Next stop the Sunderland Marathon on 6th May!

Blackpool Marathon Video

Hi All,

This is the third of the 12 marathons Jamie and I (the marathon men!) will be running this year. This is the Blackpool Marathon which was held on 11th March 2012. It was an easier run than the two previous ones, however boredom did set in fairly quickly.  Multiple trips up and down the promenade made for easy running, however it also made the day seem longer than it was!! Let’s hope that we won’t be saying the same thing about the Brighton Marathon on 15th April!
